Additional Signup Information

For general questions - see the FAQ page

  • Band Camp dates are a bit up in the air right now (early April), as there are scheduling items for football season that are still not set in stone. We are currently asking EVERYONE to keep two weeks open before the start of fall quarter. Those two weeks encompass September 9th through the 20th

  • Incoming freshmen may signup prior to fully enrolling at OSU, but should be intending to attend the university.

  • By the fall, students in the marching band must be a degree seeking OSU student, or a student at LBCC enrolling through the co-enrollment agreement between LBCC and OSU Music.

Wind Rosters will be set over the summer, show dots will be assigned during band camp in September.

  • Drumline and Color Guard rosters are set at auditions for those sections over the summer. See those pages for info.

  • Wind rosters can change over the summer depending on drops and numbers in drumline and color guard

  • Wind players are required to submit a part placement video in the signup form. This video will help us with initial part placements during camp. In the event that we have signups over capacity, this video will serve as an audition for the roster.

  • Your part placement video should be made on the instrument that you are signing up for. If you have a secondary that you’d also feel comfortable marching, make sure to note it on the signup form.

Instrument substitutions on your video may be made between the following instruments:

  • Piccolo / Flute

  • Saxophones generally

  • Mellophone / French Horn

  • Baritone / Euphonium (upright or marching)

  • Sousaphone / Tuba

Exact camp dates for 2024 are TBD, within the two weeks prior to the start of fall quarter

A note on HOUSING

The OSUMB provides options for housing during camp, which takes place before general move-in. These housing options are primarily for new, incoming members, many of whom will be living in the dorms during the school year. Most returning members have arranged housing off campus, or are already living in their on-campus housing by the time camp begins. Housing is handled in the late summer, around when signups close

Option 1 - Early Move-in

We can authorize an early move-in for you in your dorm room. Move-ins will take place in the morning on the new-member day of camp (Sunday). This option will add to your room and board at $25 per additional day.

Option 2 - Homestay

During camp, returners also host new members at their place of residence. This allows incoming students to avoid the cost of early move-in, and also have someone built in to their schedule to help mentor them through camp and the start of school. The match is done by section leaders and is based on their preferences, major, allergies, etc.
