2023-24 Student Leadership

The OSUMB operates with a student-leadership model that encourages student development and growth. This structure of leadership is a fundamental tenant of our organization. It keeps us growing and evolving, and is the reason that we continue to thrive. There are eight student offices that comprise the Band Council, and between one and four section leaders per section:

The Band Council

Oliver Devereaux, Elena Bailey, Amy Sutcliffe, Drum Major

The Drum Majors serve as the heads of the section leadership team, and assist the director in running rehearsals. They conduct all field shows and game day performances, and lead the band on parade. They direct at basketball games and community gigs, and are the most public-facing member of the leadership team. The Drum Majors help ensure the musical and marching excellence of the band.

Nicole Breshears, Band Manager

The Band Manager serves as the general manager for the OSUMB, and chairs the officer council. They are responsible for all logistical and operational aspects of the band, and is also our official link to the University. She is the person in charge of running the behind-the-scenes work within the Band

Bella Bravo, KKPsi Theta Chapter President

Kappa Kappa Psi is the national honorary band service fraternity. Their charge is to serve college and university band programs through service projects, fundraisers, social events and other projects designed to promote the welfare those programs. Here at OSU we are lucky to be served by the Theta chapter, one of the longest-standing chapters in the national organization.

McKenzie Happold, Instrument Manager

The Instrument Manager maintains the OSUMB’s instrument stock. They oversee and coordinates instrument checkout and maintain the inventory sheets. They perform basic repairs, and advises section leaders on appropriate instrument practices.

Bella Bravo and Jay Ferguson, Uniform Manager

The Uniform Manager maintains the OSUMB’s uniform stock, including both Full Dress and informal uniforms. They oversee and coordinate uniform checkouts, and help facilitate uniform maintenance and game-day emergency fixes.

Natalie Cheal, Librarian

The Librarian is the moderator and manager of our music library. They create and set up music folders at the start of each year’s camp and basketball seasons. They works with the Drum Majors and the Director to manage and maintain the yearly folder.

Olivia Queisser Social Media Chair

The Social Media Chair maintains the OSUMB’s social media presence. Along with their committee, they create and implement the character of the band online.

Mayri Ross, Recruiting Chair

The Recruiting Chair coordinates outreach efforts to student musicians considering marching with the Spirit and Sound. Along with their committee, they correspond with prospective students, organize booths at events, work with the social media team to reach musicians, and coordinate with campus partners.
