The Oregon State University Marching Band, known as the Spirit and Sound of OSU, is the flagship performing ensemble representing Oregon State. Appearing in the course catalogue in 1890, and with photos and other evidence of existence before then, it was the first band formed on a Pac-12 campus. The band performs regularly for 45,000+Beavers football fans at Reser Stadium and is one of the largest and most active student organizations on the OSU Campus.

The band is represented by students from every undergraduate college at OSU, including every academic discipline and nearly every major. Students dedicate their time and energy toward creating an original, entertaining presence on campus, and set of shows on the field. The Spirit and Sound is a traditional collegiate band, with its heritage being directly descended from the band tradition of the Big Ten.

The Spirit and Sound is the primary performing ensemble among the OSU Athletic Bands Program. It is where the concept of sound, style of marching, and group dynamics are formed. In addition, the program performs around Corvallis in a variety of bands and ensembles, composed of members of the Spirit and Sound. Support the OSU Bands!

The OSUMB prides itself on accessibility to students. If an OSU student has the drive to learn and march with the band, then we don’t want there to be significant financial barriers in their way. In addition, the band is a constantly evolving organization with differing needs each and every year
